TradeInvest Organized its First Business Breakfast "Greet and Meet" Public-Private Engagement

DILI, Timor-Leste (11th August 2017) – The Governor General of Central Bank, Mr. Abrão de Vasconcelos, was one of the keynote speakers at the 1st Business Breakfast organized by Investment and Export Promotion Agency (TradeInvest Timor-Leste), held in Suai Room, Timor-Plaza on 11th August 2017 on theme of “Greet and Meet” – Public-Private Engagement.
Mr Abrão de Vasconcelos presented detailed information about the credit guarantee scheme for SMEs recently approved by the Government of Timor-Leste. In addition, another keynote speaker, Mr Zeca Amaral, Chief of Unit from Customs Office, made a presentation on the new upgrade ASYCUDA system for trade activities to be implemented in Timor-Leste as part of the reform made by the Government of Timor-Leste to improve the business environment.

In the welcome remarks, Representative from TradeInvest, Director Decio Ribeiro Sarmento warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized that “this event has already been set under TradeInvest Annual Action Plan for 2017 with objective to support national private sectors (especially Small and Medium Enterprises) to access important information related to export promotion as well as to enable relevant government institutions to disseminate information related to legal framework and procedures for export activities in Timor-Leste”.
This “Business Breakfast” event has been organized by Directorate of Export Promotion of TradeInvest and it will become annual activity for the Agency as part of its promotional strategy to enhance public-private engagement. A special thanks is dedicated to Timor Plaza Hotel & Apartment’s sponsorship for making this event happened successfully. “This event has been a great opportunity for both public and private sector to interact and engage informally to exchange information and discuss investment and export opportunities, hence to contribute to social and economic development of Timor-Leste.” said Director of Export Promotion of TradeInvest.
The total participants in the event were approximately 80, composting of private sectors and representatives from relevant line Ministries. The presentations and breakfast were concluded by official announcement of another upcoming TradeInvest Timor-Leste’s 1st “Export Award 2017” event to be held on 28th September 2017.
