The 2nd Timor-Leste International Investment Conference

TradeInvest Timor-Leste in partnership with Informa Australia had organized the 2nd Timor-Leste International Investment Conference on 13 – 16 November 2017. There were around 90 participants consisted of representative of international companies, local companies, public institutions and number of Timor-Leste senior Government officials.
The opening event started with the Welcome Reception on the 13th November 2017where the keynote addressed was deliver by the Minister of State and Counselor for National Security, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos Horta, in His speech His Excellency emphasize that Timor-Leste is not only welcoming new investors who are interested to come and invest in Timor-Leste but also appreciating and facilitating the existing investors who have made their investment in the country when most investors were afraid to do it. Additionally, there were also three investors, Nova Casa Fresca, Fortuna Plaza and Heineken who represented the existing investors in Timor-Leste to display their services and products.

The conference had started on the 14th November 2017 and it was officially opened by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Development and Institutional Reform, H.E. Dr. Mari Alkatiri. In his speech His Excellency stressed that the Government is working to improve the business environment in order to attract more private investment into the country and to provide better doing business experience for private sector. There was wide range of speakers in the first day of the conference who delivered their presentations in a number of sectors such oil and gas, tourism and manufacturing.
On the 15th November 2017, the Minister of Tourism, H.E. Manuel Vong, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Antonio Conceicao and the Minister of State and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, H.E. Estanislau da Silva were among the speakers in the second day of the conference to share Government plan in the sector of tourism, commerce and Industry and agriculture and fisheries. The conference had officially closed by the Assistant Minister for Prime Minister for Governance Affairs, H.E. Jose Reis.
TradeInvest Timor-Leste had organized the additional program to visit Oe-cusse on the 16th November 2017. There were 12 investors registered and went to Oe-cusse to meet with the Substitution President of RAEOA Authority and ZEESM, H.E. Arsenio Bano and all the Regional Secretaries and hear directly about investment and export opportunity in Oe-cusse. The delegation also had opportunity to visit some projects that have been built in Oe-cusse.
